Survey says that bedbug problem in US is pervasive

New York City, Jan 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Researchers were stunned when they found that bedbug problem in the United States was “pervasive”.

A study to understand how Americans see the bedbug problem was carried out by the National Pest Management Association. The study which was in the form of an online survey had about 504 respondents. After the study, the researchers found some interesting statistics.

It emerged that as much as 20 percent of Americans have had a sort of encounter with a bedbug. That encounter could be personal encounter with the creatures or knowing somebody that have made a contact with the insect.

It was also realized that about 78 percent of the respondents were worried that they will encounter the creature. They were concerned that they will be encountering the creatures at the doctor’s office, their office, in hotel rooms and other places. Subsequently, it was realized that concern has caused some of the respondents to change their daily routines.

The research found that 25 percent of the respondents checked the hotel that they intend o stay in for bedbugs before moving into it. Out of concern for having the bugs in their home, about one in three of the respondents revealed that if they knew a friend or a relative had the bug, they will not invite the person to their homes.
