New York, April 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) So you think your car is clean? Read this!

A new study says the steering wheel is almost nine times dirtier than the toilet seat. The reason according to researchers is that steering wheels are not cleaned as regularly as the toilet seat.

The research was carried out by researchers from the Queen Mary University in London. The researchers say a square inch of a steering wheel is believed to contain about 700 distinct bacteria whereas that of the toilet seat has 80 different kinds of bacteria. The trunk of the car is worse off. It is estimated that the trunk of a car has 1,000 distinct bacteria per square inch.

The identified bacteria include the bacillus cereus which can cause food poisoning. The researchers identified that only a third of those who took part in the study actually cleaned their cars at least once in a year. Those were not the only findings of the study.

It was found that two-thirds of Americans do not know how to change their car tires. A third of the respondents did not even know how to inflate their tires.
