New York, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems it is not only humans who need dieting; pets do too.

Vets in the United States claim that more than half of all the pets in the country are obese. They are obese because of their ‘over-caring’ owners that give them more food than they could use. That has caused the animals to swell in size over the years.

The blame has often been placed on the fact that pet owners don’t know what they are about when it comes to feeding their cat. What they normally do is that they place a plate full of pet food in front of the animal to help themselves. What most of these pet owners do not know is that every extra food adds to the calories.

As it is in humans, obesity in pets is pretty dangerous. They develop range of diseases and it could potentially kill them over time. Owners are encouraged to exercise their pets and also ensure that they acquire the right knowledge from their vets on how to feed their pets.

The CEO of Camp Bow Wow, Heidi Ganahl said that, “It goes to the dynamic of people looking like their pets… If the owner is focused on health, then the pets will be, too.”
