Study: Beauty Sleep is not a myth
December 17th, 2010 - 2:55 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattStockholm, Dec 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Researchers say that sleeping to look beautiful is very real. The concept has often been argued as false but a new study has concluded that it might be very correct.
Researchers in Sweden have concluded that there is scientific evidence to suggest that people who sleep most of the time look more beautiful when they awake. In the study, there were 23 participants between the ages of 18 and 31 who were studied by the researchers.
The researchers spent time studying two groups of people. The first group was made to sleep for eight hours while the next group members slept for five hours. Each group was then photographed when they awoke. Afterwards, the researchers got volunteers to check from the pictures those that were attractive. The researchers had 65 volunteers to pick those that looked more attractive.
Averagely, those that sleep for more hours were picked most, laying credence to the concept of beauty sleep.
That means it is no longer a fairytale when a claim is made that sleep beauty exists. It however needs more scientific research to determine why this is so and it is believed that this might lead to further studies.
