London, Jan 19 (ANI): Are you one of those who keep forgetting birthdays and can never remember things during exams? Well, then heres your savioura “memory pill” that combats memory loss and help exam revision.
Whats more, the magical invention will soon hit shelves in the UK.
Designed originally to help treat Alzheimer’’s disease, the memory pill” could be adapted and licensed for sale in a weaker form within the next few years.
Already, the multinational company AstraZeneca in collaboration with Targacept, an American company, is developing one brand of memory-enhancing pill, while Epix Pharmaceuticals, also from the US, is developing another.
The two brands have “cognitive-enhancing effects” that could treat patients with age-related memory loss.
Steven Ferris, a neurologist and former committee member of the Food and Drug Administration in the US, has predicted that a milder version of the medicine will soon be available for healthy consumers as a “lifestyle pill” available over the counter.
“My view is that one could gain approval, provided you showed the drugs to be effective and safe. It could be a huge market, The Telegraph quoted Ferris as saying. (ANI)
