New Delhi, Jan 23 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a man who is conscious about his health and does yoga and meditation regularly to keep himself in a good shape, his former media advisor Sanjaya Baru said here Friday.Manmohan Singh will undergo a bypass surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here Saturday.
Manmohan Singh, discharged from the AIIMS Thursday following an angiography a day earlier, was re-admitted Friday after he felt uneasy at his 7 Race Course Road residence in the morning.
Extensive tests over the past two days revealed that the 76-year-old leader, who became prime minister in May 2004 at the head of a Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, had multiple arterial blockages.
“I have not met a person who is more with himself than Manmohan Singh,” Baru, who left the job last year, told a television channel.
“He is always calm, cool and never looses his temper,” he said.
“There is a VIP room at AIIMS cardio-thoracic centre for the prime minister and a dedicated team of doctors available for him round the clock,” he said.
