Mohali, Feb 24 (IANS) Having learnt a few drama tricks by acting in a Bollywood flick did not come in handy for a 10-year-old boy as his dramatic kidnapping turned out to be fake. He has written an apology to police and his parents.

Sahibjit Singh, a resident of Phase VI of this Punjab town, sent a written apology to Deputy Superintendent of Police Raka Gira here Wednesday evening as his alleged kidnapping turned out to be a drama enacted by him in real life.

Sahibjit recently acted in the multi-starrer “Yamla Pagla Deewana” and shared the silver screen with Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. He played the role of Sunny Deol’s son.

Sahibjit Tuesday told his parents and police that he was kidnapped from the busy road outside his school around 2.15 p.m. by nearly six people in a Maruti van. He said the kidnappers stopped the van in Phase I for a while when he managed to jump out and escape.

However, police were skeptical about this story as the boy had managed to reach his home within 30 minutes of his school getting oover. Therefore, police went to his school Wednesday to verify about the child’s behaviour from his teachers and classmates.

On seeing cops in his school, Sahibjit got nervous and confessed about concocting a false story for fun.

He has promised not to tell lie in future. He has also written an apology to his parents.

“We would not take any action against Sahibjit because he has realized his mistake. But police would keep an eye on his activities for the next few days,” said Gira.
