London, June 23 (ANI): Prince Edward has enraged his brother Prince Charles wildlife protection charity, The Marine Conservation Society, with his plans to release 300 balloons to mark a schools birthday.

Edward is to release the balloons on June 25 to mark the 300th birthday of Lucton School, Herefordshire.

However, the charity said that the balloons kill hundreds of thousands of sea birds each year after the creatures eat them mistaking them for prey.

According to them, turtles, dolphins, whales and sea birds could be killed eating the balloons.

“If people release hundreds of balloons into the air the chances are some poor creature will die as a result. By all means use the balloons - just don’t let them go, the Mirror quoted spokesman Richard Harrington, as saying.

Charles has been the president of the charity since the 1980s.

The charity has been running a Don’t Let Go campaign for 10 years to highlight the hazard.

School bursar Paul Thorne said: “There’s no way we would show disregard for wildlife.” (ANI)
