California, Feb 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The neural disorder, autism, has been affecting several babies these days and researchers in different places have conducted multiple studies to save children from this problem. A recent study conducted by the experts of the University of California indicated that the age of mother can play a significant role in determining whether the child would become autistic. The reports indicate that the scientists had observed over five million births during the nineties before concluding that babies born from older mothers pose more risk of being affected by autism.
It has been reported that not only the age of the mother but also the age of the father plays a significant role in determining whether the child would bear signs of autism. According to the reports of the studies if the partner of an elderly men is below the age of 30 years then the baby can also develop this neural disorder. The results obtained from the latest studies reject the fact that the risk of autism is only related to the paternal age. Now, the studies show that age of father and mother can be equally responsible to determine whether the child would be autistic.
Janie F. Shelton, who has graduated from University of California, Davis Health System said that he is not sure whether the rise in the number of autistic babies is due to the “shifting trend of maternal age”. As the researchers are not sure whether the change in maternal age is increasing the cases of autism, people are suggested not to blame a woman if her child shows signs of autism.
