Now, eco-friendly dresses made of bamboo fibre
June 26th, 2008 - 5:55 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:Washington, June 26 (ANI): Sandy Skinner of ecoSkin has come up with environmentally friendly dresses made of a sleek blend of 67 per cent bamboo and 28 per cent tencel, and five per cent spandex.
She has revealed that she imports the raw bamboo fibre from China, and spins it locally in Los Angeles so that she can oversee all the aspects of manufacturing the fabric.
She says that the weaving of the fabric as well as the dying of the garments is all done in Los Angeles.
Yes, bamboos not perfect. No fabric is. But its certainly better than using a rayon or poly and its only going to get better if we continue to push for better ways of manufacturing it, the Environmental News Network (ENN) quoted her as saying.
Sandy believes that designers and shoppers may have a significant impact on the fabric makers, the slowest sector of the fashion industry to react to the market, by continuing to ask for better practices. (ANI)
