Now, baby suits that can tell when a child is ill
June 18th, 2009 - 1:33 pm ICT by ANILondon, June 18 (ANI): What if infants could themselves tell that they have fever? Well, now they can, at least by changing the colour of their suits.
A dad has created baby suits, called Babyglows, which can change their colours when the kids wearing them get too hot, providing early warning of illness.
Chris Ebejer, 42, designed the baby grow after learning that children under two cannot control their temperature.
And now he has clinched a 12.5million pounds contract to produce 900,000 suits a month worldwide.
Ebejer spent 700,000 pounds and six years creating ink pigments with heat sensitive molecules and embedding them in cotton.
Heat can be a sign of illnesses, such as meningitis, and is believed to be a factor in cot death.
Chris lives with wife Jane, 44, and son Aaron, 17, in Long Melford, Suffolk.
“Mothers are going to find these invaluable,” the Sun quoted Chris as saying.
He added: “The suit makes heat visible. It communicates where a baby can’t.”
Babyglows will go on sale in October for around 20 pounds. (ANI)
