London, Dec 22 (ANI): Hate loading the dishwasher after having that sumptuous dibber with family? Well, heres your solution a robot specifically designed to do the job itself.
Scientists in Japan have created a new household robot, which can rinse the dishes in the sink and then neatly lines them up in the dishwasher before pressing the start button for the washing cycle.
Created by scientists from the University of Tokyo and electronics company Panasonic, the multi-jointed robot arm will be available for sale in five years.
The robot is part of a series of prototype devices designed to perform household chores, reports The Telegraph.
The kitchen assistant robot (KAR) is fitted with 18 delicate sensors, so that it can grasp delicate china and cutlery without dropping or breaking them in a palm-like device.
KAR can also utilise its internal camera along with the sensors to determine the shapes and sizes of dirty dishes and utensils placed in the sink before picking them up and loading them in the dishwasher.
Researchers are working towards creating a smaller and lighter robot, which would take just five minutes to load the dirty plates, and cooking utensils of a family of four into the dishwasher.
Scientists are also trying to create devices capable of performing disliked activities such as the laundry and other household chores. (ANI)
