Nepali Congress leaders doubt Maoists intentionMay 19th, 2008 - 2:31 pm ICT by admin
Kathmandu, May 19 (ANI): The Nepali Congress (NC) acting president Sushil Koirala has said that his party is still not assured about the intention of the Maoists in Nepal.
The Nepalnews quoted Koirala, as saying that past experiences with the Maoists do not give them reasons to have faith in them.
We are suspicious. Because the Maoists have not fulfilled any of the agreements and understandings signed in the recent past. They have not yet returned even an inch of seized lands, he added.
At a time when Maoists are accusing NC of trying to block the formation of a government led by them, Koirala said, We are accused of being power-hungry. That is not the case. Our only concern is that they should change their attitude.
He further added that NC does not want to block the formation of Maoist-led government but wants concrete assurances about their activities and democratisation. (ANI)
