Natural sweetener that has 40 % less calories than sugar developed

December 31st, 2007 - 1:14 pm ICT by admin -

Washington, Dec 31 (ANI): You can now enjoy the sweet taste of sugar without worrying about the calories, for a Los Angeles-based company has developed a sweetener that has 40 percent fewer calories than sugar.

Friday, a natural sweetener company, said that it has developed Natur Baker’s Blend Natural Sweetener, which has been tested as low-glycemic.

Natur Research said that the sugar alternative bakes, rises, caramelizes, provides a crust and preserves similar to cane sugar, reports Environmental News Network.

The company said that the first all-natural baking sweetener, which is currently available in select Sam’s Club locations, is being used in bakeries and by commercial baking manufacturers who are seeking to provide the diabetic market with a suitable replacement for artificial sweeteners while maintaining a natural taste profile similar to cane sugar.

After testing the sweetener, the San Francisco Baking Institute said that the product could be helpful in making baked goods for people who cannot eat products made with refined sucrose. (ANI)
