London, Nov 16 (ANI): In the age of multi-function smartphones, a Dutch advertising agency has launched a mobile just to make and receive calls.
The no-frills ‘John’s Phone’ can’t follow Twitter feeds iPhone-style, won’t check Facebook, play MP3s, run apps or even receive texts.
However, it boasts a battery life of three weeks and has a manual just one page long.
Meanwhile the ‘built-in’ address book is a pen and paper notepad - hidden behind a flap on the back.
The gadget is 10.5cm long - slightly smaller than an iPhone.
Its makers, Dutch advertising agency John Doe, hope it will be a hit with older buyers confused by modern technology and youngsters who are buying their first phone.
Dubbed the ‘anti-iPhone’, the device costs from 59 pounds to 67 pounds in various colors. The only modern feature is the ability to assign ten speed-dial numbers.
“At a time when there is an abundance of choices and oppressive channels, we wanted to develop a simple gadget,” the Sun quoted the phone’s designer, Diedriekje Bok, as saying. (ANI)
