Medvedev congratulates British royal couple

Moscow, April 29 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Friday congratulated Prince William and Kate Middleton on their wedding and sent them a decorated lacquer box as a gift.
“I warmly congratulate you on your wedding,” Medvedev said in a written message that accompanied a lacquer box decorated with a 19th century Moscow winter scene.
“This day is an event of great importance not only for you but for the entire people of Britain. May harmony, joy and love always prevail within your family,” he wrote.
William and Kate were married at Westminster Abbey Friday in the presence of 1,900 guests. The ceremony was watched on television by an estimated two billion viewers worldwide.
