`ManU treating me like a slave, says Ronaldo
July 11th, 2008 - 3:14 pm ICT by ANI London, July 11 (ANI): Portuguese striker and Manchester United star performer Cristiano Ronaldo has accused the club of treating him like a slave.
Ronaldo has also supported FIFA president Sepp Blatter’’s latest controversial outburst regarding his transfer to real Madrid, thus further widening the rift between himself and Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
Despite revealing his ankle injury will keep him out until October, he refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid before the August 31 transfer deadline.
Blatter has been urging the Premier League champions to grant Ronaldo his dream move to real Madrid, and Ronaldo has said: I agree with what the president of FIFA said. It’’s true. In an interview with a Portuguese TV station, the Daily Express quoted Ronaldo as saying: “I agree with what the president of FIFA said. It’’s true. I know what I want and what I would like. We have to see what happens. It is not true that I have already an agreement [with Real]. But I hope to be able to talk about my future very soon.”
Ronaldo’’s agreement with Blatter’’s sentiments flew in the face of United’’s view. And it will further alienate fans who will struggle to grasp the concept of a footballer who happily signed a five-year contract worth 30 million pounds only last summer being “a slave.” (ANI)
