Manchester City club sacks coach Sven Goran ErikssonApril 29th, 2008 - 4:27 pm ICT by admin
London, Apr.29 (ANI): Former England football coach Sven Goran Eriksson will be sacked by Manchester City after a showdown meeting with owner Thaksin Shinawatra.
The Swede met the Thai supremo to discuss his first season in charge and identify possible signings, but came away shocked by the result - and is now waiting for the end of his brief reign.
Eriksson was stunned that Shinawatra and his advisors had little to say to him and told the manager that they would be looking to make their own signings this summer.
The former England chief hoped to give Shinawatra and his team a list of players he would like. But he was put in his place and informed that they want their own targets landed instead, The Mirror reports.
However, the lack of respect Shinawatra and his team showed for Eriksson marked the beginning of the end for him and insiders revealed that he will be gone at the end of the season - if not before.
The whole botched affair will stun City fans, especially in the wake of the results the team has achieved while he was coach, including a double over deadly rivals Manchester United.
Shinawatra has turned a deaf ear to their pro-Eriksson chants and the process of finding a new manager will begin immediately.
Shinawatra has not lined up a replacement but Brazilian legend Luiz Felipe Scolari has been linked already.
Croatia national team boss Slaven Bilic also has support within the star-struck Shinawatra camp and he could be approached over the summer. But for the second year running City face a time of managerial turmoil. (ANI)
