Japanese company unveils new range of ‘green’ bikes
March 8th, 2010 - 6:01 pm ICT by ANILondon, March 8 (ANI): Japanese company Sanyo has unveiled new cycles that are greener than the ones that already dot the bike parks of Tokyo - the new bikes are complete with a battery than lasts longer than all existing ones.
A large number of bikes in Tokyo have small electric motors. Old ladies use them as a shopping basket to ferry food between the supermarket and their homes.
But it looks like Sanyo is not content with the present range of eco friendly bikes. Using their Eneloop rechargeable battery technology they have come up with super-efficient bikes powered by long-range batteries.
The SP series helps the rider keep fit as he/she provides 30 percent of the energy to get the bike moving while the motor takes care of the rest.
The Eneloop technology enabled battery runs nearly 40km per 210 minute charge.
Sanyo has also unveiled the worlds first ‘Solar Parking Lot’. A giant recharging station for the Eneloop range of bikes, the park is powered by sets of solar panels on the roof of the lot. Bikes are recharged both during the night and day with the remaining energy used to light the parking area. (ANI)
