London, Mar 24 (ANI): Heathrows transit system is comparable with the chaos encountered at Bombay airport, according to passengers.

While the launch of Terminal 5 at Heathrow, operated by the British Airports Authority, has been considered a new start for the airport, many passengers feel that the four older terminals are still a disgrace.

Travelers, who responded to questionnaires distributed by Skytrax, an airport consultancy, said that Heathrows worst attribute was its transit facilities.

Moreover, they believe that Heathrows transit system is similar to Bombays chaotic airport, reports Times Online.

According to the survey, conducted on 7.8 million travelers, Heathrows reputation for baggage delivery is like the airport at Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.

In the list of 162 airports, Heathrow was ranked at 103rd position, with passengers complaining about its snaking security queues, surly immigration officials and infuriating baggage system.

Among other complaints were delays in flights, with Heathrow having the largest number in Europe and more than one in three departing at least 15 minutes late.

Heathrows best quality was its duty-free shops, for which it ranked 42nd. The airport was also placed in the top half for its restaurants and cafes, for which it was ranked 72nd, and the friendliness of its staff, who were considered the 79th most polite.

It was given 105th rank for the state of its washrooms, and its general cleanliness let it down further, with the airport being placed 116th.

According to the survey, the best airport was Hong Kong International, which achieved top ranking for its security processing and dining. (ANI)
