Chandigarh, July 10 (IANS) Thanks to her successful anti-alcohol campaign, a woman village head in Haryana has got a rare chance to meet the president of India Pratibha Patil.
Roshni Devi of village Kothal Khurd near Narnaul town in Haryana, some 300 km from here, would meet the president Saturday.
“The president had invited Roshni Devi after getting impressed with the noble drive initiated by her against the evil habit of drinking at public places in the village. Due to her initiative, the incidents of public drinking and loitering after drinking in the village have decreased to a great extent,” said a state government spokesperson here Friday.
He added, “Roshni Devi has gone to Delhi with a group of 18 other women. They would stay at the rest house of the Rashtrapati Bhawan.”
