Haryana to develop 11 new projects to boost tourism

Chandigarh, July 13 (IANS) Aiming to boost tourism prospects in Haryana, the state government has decided to establish 11 new projects under public-private partnership at various places, including famous tourist destinations like Surajkund and Karna Lake near Karnal.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda approved this proposal of the tourism department, during the cabinet meeting here Monday.

“Out of the 11 new projects, seven projects will be implemented on long-term lease basis for a period of 33 years extendable up to another 33 years. Four projects will be implemented on short-term lease basis, for a period of 11 years extendable by another 11 years,” said the state spokesman here Monday.

“These projects will give a thrust to the tourism promotion activities and become a positive catalyst of economic growth and employment generation in the state,” he added.

These projects include shopping malls, multiplexes, amusementheme parks, health spas and adventure camping sites, which would come up at various towns like Karnal, Pipli, Surajkund, Rohtak, Madhogarh and Hodal.

Surajkund town, 10 km from Delhi, is already famous for its crafts fair that is held every year from Feb 1-15. Master artisans from all across the country exhibit their creations and talent during this fair.
