Handsfree devices for those who text on the move
July 6th, 2010 - 5:37 pm ICT by ANINew York, July 6 (ANI): Addicted to texting on the go but keep bumping into thongs here and then? Well, here’s a new technology that might just do the trick for you and that too without causing any bodily harm- earpieces that convert a person’s voice into a text message.
The user can speak just like he or she is talking on the phone and then says the person’s name in order to send the message, reports the New York Daily News.
This means that the handsfree devices that help drivers keep their hands on the steering wheels can now assist pedestrians by keeping their eyes on sidewalk.
Jawbone earpieces help users “talk responsibly” and “avoid walking catextrophies,” said a spokeswoman for Aliph, which makes the tiny headsets.
Smartphone apps have also introduced technologies to help people who text while walking-several flick on the phone’s camera, allowing a user to type over a live video feed that lets them see what’s in front of them.
Pedestrians interviewed yesterday said they thought the new technology was a good idea. (ANI)
