Gurgaon, Jan 11 (IANS) Two top Bihar politicians - Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and Janata Dal-United president Sharad Yadav - are set to fix marriages of their daughters with grooms from political families in Haryana, family members said Wednesday.
Lalu Prasad’s daughter Anushka and Sharad Yadav’s daughter Suhasini are expected to get engaged to Gurgaon-based sons of local politicians from the Ahirwal belt - which spans several districts including Gurgaon, Rewari, Mahendergarh and Faridabad.
Lalu Prasad has selected a Haryana minister’s son Chiranjeev Rao for his daughter Anushka.
Rao is president of the Haryana Pradesh Youth Congress and his father Captain Ajay Singh Yadav is power minister in Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s cabinet.
“It’s an arranged marriage, our parents took the decision. We have met each other. We are happy,” Rao told IANS.
Anushka is an interior designer and Chiranjeev Rao is a law student.
The engagement ceremony will be held after Jan 28 when Ragini, another daughter of Lalu Prasad, is to marry Rahul in Delhi. Rahul is the son of Uttar Pradesh legislator Jitendra Yadav, who represents the Ghaziabad assembly constituency.
Sharad Yadav’s daughter Suhasini has been engaged to Rajkamal Yadav, son of Rao Kamalveer Singh, who heads the Janata Dal-United in Haryana.
Rao Kamalveer told IANS: “It’s a totally arranged marriage. Both the boy and girl are MBAs. They are happy with the decision of their parents. One of the main initial ceremony will be held on Jan 22. The decision was taken almost a month back.”
Rajkamal Yadav’s grandfather was a minister in the state on several occasions and his uncle Rao Narbir Singh is an ex-minister and a Bharatiya Janata Party leader.
Sharad Yadav’s wife hails from Kutubpur area of Rewari district.
