Guide book to tackle child abuse released
November 19th, 2011 - 12:09 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) What is the difference between “good touch” and “bad touch”? A guide book that talks about different types of violence faced by children and ways to protect themselves was released by a non government organisation, Save the Children, Friday.
The guide book “Safe You and Safe Me” was released on the eve of International Day for Prevention of Child Abuse. It explains both pictorially and in simple text the difference between “good touch” and “bad touch” and other things.
The guide book is available in English and has been translated in eight Indian languages.
“Given that children in the age group of 7-12 years are most at risk of abuse and exploitation, Save the Children felt that it is time we came up with a tool to enable children in this age group to be first aware of the kinds of violence that they are likely to face,” said Shireen Vakil Miller, director of Advocacy, Save the Children.
