Free bus ride for Delhi women on Bhai Dooj
October 16th, 2009 - 3:18 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) Women in the national capital can enjoy a free ride in Delhi Transport Corp (DTC) buses Monday on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit announced Friday.
“Women in Delhi will be able to travel free in DTC buses on Bhai Dooj. The decision has been taken to ensure that women can easily reach their brothers’ place,” Dikshit told reporters.
She said women will be allowed to ride free in all ordinary DTC buses and the green low-floor buses till 5 p.m. Monday.
Bhai Dooj is celebrated a day after Diwali. Sisters put vermilion on the forehead of their brothers and pray for their long life.
