First UAE woman in North Pole expedition
April 13th, 2010 - 4:21 pm ICT by IANSDubai, April 13 (IANS/WAM) Elham Al-Qasimi will become the first woman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attempt an unassisted two-week expedition to the North Pole.
Elham’s expedition, whose date is yet to be set, will also involve skiing, currently the preferred method of unsupported travel across the Arctic Ocean. There will be no re-supplies, airdrops or any other kind of assistance during her trip, organisers said Monday.
