Drugs worth Rs.3 mn seized in PunjabJuly 3rd, 2008 - 10:18 pm ICT by IANS
Ludhiana, July 3 (IANS) Punjab’s health department officials Thursday seized banned stimulants worth Rs.3 million from one of the biggest suppliers of medicines in the state. The drugs were seized from the shop and storehouses of Pawan Medicos of Pindi street in this industrial town, 100 km from Chandigarh.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Lakshmi Kanta Chawla said that after the raids two unlicensed godowns and a shop have been sealed and two different cases under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act have been registered agaiinst the drug store owner.
A special team has been constituted to explore the inter-state network of this firm and to determine the source of these drugs, Chawla said.
A health department spokesman said that during the last six months, drugs worth Rs.25 million have been seized in various raids conducted across the state.
