Delhi may tie with Singapore on world class institute
October 6th, 2011 - 9:28 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 6 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit Thursday said Singapore is keen to ink an agreement on setting up an international standard Skill Development Institute here, based on the Institute of Technical Education and Studies there.
Diskhit, accompanied by a seven-member delegation, was on a three-day visit Oct 3-5 to Singapore where she separately held meetings with Singapore’s former prime minister Goh Chok Tung and education minister Heng Swee Keat.
“The government is keen to set up a Skill Development Institute in Delhi on the lines of the world class Institute of Technical Institute And Studies which has been functional in Singapore,” Dikshit said in a statement.
Describing her visit as successful, she stated that Singapore is keen to ink an agreement on setting up such an institute with the government.
A high-level Singapore delegation will soon visit Delhi to give final touches to the proposed agreement.
The chief minister said the institute will be in tune with the prime minister’s Skill Development Mission.
