March 27th, 2010 - 8:50 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 27 (IANS) Cycle rickshaw pullers in the capital Saturday announced a rally Monday to demand a transport policy that provides space to non-motorised vehicles.
The rally, organised by NGO Manushi, will start at 11 a.m. from the Red Fort and culminate at Rajghat.
“We are demanding speedy implementation of an environment friendly transport policy as ordered by the Delhi High Court. It will prevent exploitation of rickshaw pullers,” said Madhu Kishwar of Manushi.
The court wants a comprehensive and non-discriminatory transport policy to provide due space to eco-friendly, employment friendly non-motorised vehicles.
