CPI welcomes PM’s initiative to hold talks with Gilani at Mohali

Manmohan Singh Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 30 (ANI): Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardhan on Wednesday welcomed Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s initiative to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani on the sidelines of the World Cup semi final clash at Mohali.

“It is a good initiative, which will be a beginning for further talks,” said Bardhan.

The CPI veteran, who is in Kerala to campaign for LDF for April 13 assembly polls, however, added that both the nations, will have to cross many hurdles to achieve the objective.

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, along with a 45-member delegation, arrived earlier today in Mohali to watch the World Cup semi-final clash.

According to reports, India-Pakistan match in Mohali had provided a backdrop for the two sides to take a pliant stance and resolve their differences, as the match will come a day after the Home Secretary-level talks between the two countries. (ANI)
