Noida April 21 (IANS) A couple in Noida, a suburban town of the national capital in Uttar Pradesh, has alleged their new-born male child was swapped for a girl child in a Noida hospital. In a police complaint, Sita Devi, wife of Narendra Yadav, a resident of Sector-8 in Noida, said she delivered a male child Monday in the corridor of the district government hospital. The staff nurse took the child to the labour room where another woman, Sangeeta Devi, had delivered a girl child.
When the nurse returned, she had a female child in her hands. Sita alleged that the staff nurse swapped her male child with Sangeeta’s baby girl.
The staff nurse, however, refuted Sita’s allegations and reiterated that she had delivered a female child and Sangeeta delivered a male child. The nurse said there was no foul play and the confusion arose as she hurriedly took the child to labour room, from the corridor, without revealing its sex.
The chief medical superintendent (CMS) of the hospital was not be available for comments.
