Child bravehearts meet Delhi chief minister, governor
January 20th, 2011 - 10:02 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS) Sharing their experiences of outstanding deeds of courage, 23 children who have been selected for the national bravery awards this year Thursday met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna.Congratulating them for their exemplary acts, Dikshit said they were the role model for all other children and youngsters.
Among the children is a 12-year-old girl who saved the lives of two children in a quarry in Kerala and a 15-year-old boy who rescued a 55-year-old man from a train accident in Madhya Pradesh.
The children also met Khanna who congratulated them on their achievement.
The awardees have been selected by a committee comprising representatives of various ministries, NGOs and the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW). They will receive a medal, certificate and cash award by the prime minister ahead of Republic Day Jan 26.
