“It is necessary to ensure equitable distribution of resources so that poor and marginalised people are provided greater attention in the matter of accessing health services,” he said here Thursday.
He was addressing a meeting convened here to review the progress of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in the four southern states and the union territories of Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
He urged the health ministers of the southern states to create and establish a public health cadre to deal effectively with all infectious diseases.
He also mooted the idea of posting post-graduate students to work in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, community health centres for a period of six months so that people in those areas get the services of specialists.
