Bugatti plans to build world’s fastest sedan
October 1st, 2009 - 3:47 pm ICT by ANIWashington, October 1 (ANI): Reports indicate that French car maker Bugatti is planning to build the world’s fastest sedan.
According to a report by Fairfax Digital, having built the fastest car in the world, Bugatti has now revealed its concept for the quickest four-door on the planet.
Bugatti has unveiled the 16C Galibier concept, a vehicle the company claims would be “the most exclusive, elegant and powerful four-door automobile in the world”.
European reports say Bugatti is looking to launch the Galibier in 2013, a year after the two-door Veyron that can accelerate like a Formula One car and reach a top speed of 407km/h is expected to end production.
The sedan is expected to cost more than the Veyron, meaning if it were sold in Australia, it could reach an estimated price of 3.5 million dollars, once the likes of GST, import duty and luxury car tax are taken into account.
The Galibier shares the Veyron’s huge 16-cylinder 8.0-litre engine, though uses twin mechanical superchargers rather than the coupe’s four turbochargers.
Officials at Bugatti said that the engine is a flexi-fuel unit that can run on both petrol and ethanol, though has provided few other details.
Power is rumoured to be about 600kW, less than the 736kW generated by the Veyron that is also all-wheel drive.
The Galibier features new suspension as well as ceramic brakes for superior stopping performance.
The striking two-tone body comprises polished aluminium for the doors and front wings, and carbonfibre (dyed dark blue) for the rest of the car’s exterior structure.
Both materials help to add stiffness while also reducing weight.
The minimalist interior is appropriately swathed in leather and includes a reversible dash clock - designed by Swiss watch maker Parmigiani - that can be removed to be worn on the wrist using a leather strap. (ANI)
