New Delhi, Dec 16 (IANS) About 370,000 birds have been culled in the avian flu-hit areas of West Bengal and Assam, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said here Tuesday.“Almost 370,000 birds have been culled and the state’s health department has completed a home-to-home survey of 400,000 people,” he told reporters here at the fifth Health Summit organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The central government was monitoring the situation round-the-clock and was awaiting a report Wednesday the minister added.
“All possible measures are being taken,” he said.
The deadly virus has reappeared for the second time this year in West Bengal’s Malda district.
The bird flu virus has spread across six Assam districts and authorities say it has assumed epidemic proportions.
