14-year-old gives birth to baby in Chhattisgarh
November 13th, 2009 - 3:12 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Nov 13 (IANS) A 14-year-old girl gave birth to a baby boy in this Chhattisgarh capital Thursday after she met with a road accident and was brought to a government hospital here, an official said Friday.
The official said the girl was refusing to accept the baby.
The teenager met with an accident in Simga village, some 40 km from here. The girl’s parents were with her at the time. Police rushed her to Bhimaro Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital Thursday.
“Initially, she was treated in casualty ward as she had serious bruises on her body. But the doctors soon realised that she had labour pain as well. She was handed over to doctors of maternity ward where she delivered a baby boy,” hospital superintendent Vivek Choudhary told IANS.
“The girl was brought in by a constable of Simga police station. The girl’s parents were also with her Thursday but when the girl delivered a baby, the parents disappeared and the girl is also refusing to accept the child. It is quite an unusual situation for us,” he said.
