Guwahati, Jan 1 (ANI) : In a recent revelation it has come to light that the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leaders neglected to teach their children in the Assamese language, for which they are fighting for.

A reason for this is that before being arrested, the ULFA leaders were residing in Bangladesh. As a result, their children are alien to the Assamese language.So on the eve of the New Year, an NGO - Assam Public Works -decided to gift books on Assamese language, to the children of ULFA commanders, so that they can initiate to learn their mother tongue.

Meanwhile, the government has initiated the silent dialogue with the arrested United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leaders.

ULFA’s self styled Commander in chief Arabinda Rajkhowa, his deputy Raja Bora, who were arrested by the Indian agencies recently were lodged in the jail here along with other ULFA top brass.

A Guwahati Court has sent both of them to a 21-day judicial custody.

ULFA’S Self styled foreign secretary, Sasha Choudhary and self styled finance secretary Chitrabon Hazarika who were arrested earlier were also in the prison.

The government representatives have initiated a peace talks with the ULFA executive counsel in the prison itself.

According to sources the issue of sovereignty is not in ULFAs agenda.

Earlier this week Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said : “Not much progress has been made, but the good news is that most of the ULFA leaders are in jail in police custody.”

“People have lost all faith in ULFA. People of Assam they do not want insurgency to continue,” he added.

On Thursday, in New Delhi, speaking to the media after releasing monthly report card of the Ministry, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said the Centre has achieved significant lead in talks with the ULFA leadership.

Bangladesh, which played a host to these rebel leaders, has now withdrawn its hospitality.

The Guwahati court has not charged the kin of ULFA leaders, though. Their family members have been set free and were reportedly moved back to their native places. But now, it has emerged rather ironically, that the ULFA leaders neglected. (ANI)
