Tickets for Titanic cruise up for sale
April 19th, 2009 - 4:34 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 19 (ANI): Tickets for the cruise that is to follow Titanic’s fateful route to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking ship has gone on sale and more than 100 cabins have already been booked.
The bookings for the cruise opened on Apr 15, exactly 97 years after the Titanic was lost, reports the Telegraph.
The cruise organised by Balmoral - operated by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, whose parent company Harland and Wolff built the Titanic - will take the original route followed by the Titanic and will also have a similar menu, which was offered in 1912. The cruise will depart in early April in 2012.
The ship, carrying same number of passengers as in 1912 will leave Southampton before docking at the Irish port of Cobh, where the Titanic made its final call on April 11, 1912.
On April 14, it will arrive at the spot where the vessel went down, with the loss of more than 1,500 lives.
A memorial service will be held between 11.40pm - when the ship hit the iceberg - and 2.20am, on April 15, the moment it sank. (ANI)
