Ludhiana, Dec 12(ANI): The Punjabis love celebrations, and, if there’s a marriage, they don’t mind spending lavishly, on the same notes a big fat wedding was recently held in Ludhiana that had interiors based on a Hollywood film and was attended by Bollywood celebrities.
The wedding was of city-based realtor Gulshan Kumar’s son Rohit with Kiran, where the grandeur of Stephen Sommers’s ‘The Mummy’ was reproduced on six acres of land on the outskirts of Ludhiana at village Ramgarh.
For the set, five members of the unit that created the original sets of the movie were brought in, and people were hired from Hollywood, Bollywood, Kolkota and Kerala as well.To give the sets a real touch, a Mumbai-based event management company hired for the event imported raw material from abroad, and it took almost two-months to set up the venue.
Realtor Gulshan Kumar, whose younger son Kumar Sahil is a Bollywood Actor, said that he had got the idea from the film industry itself. “Actually, it was a heavy wedding season, so all the resorts were booked. The availability of the resorts was very low on November 22. So, our Bollywood director suggested that we should build a set, which would be unforgettable,” Kumar said.
An impressive Sphinx statue adorned the entrance, and the sidewalls were covered with more than 500 life-sized murals and statues of Cleopatra, Nefertiti, Egyptian Gods, soldiers and royal servants.
“A very beautiful set is going to be set up in Punjab for the first time. Everybody will like it. We have made a very beautiful set. Around 60 laborers have been working on it for the past 60 days. We have used plaster of Paris, fiber and sand to create it. We have also worked on such themes earlier,” said Dev Chitragar, an artisan from Kolkata.
On the day of the reception there were over 3,000 guests at the party who were completely bowled over by the with Hollywood film theme. Adding glitter to the evening were Bollywood stars like Bipasha Basu, Mughda Godse, Jimmy Shergill and Rajesh Khanna.
It was indeed a memorable occasion for every one, including the groom and the bride.”This Egyptian theme is different. It has been taken from the Hollywood film ‘Mummy’ and now it has been created here. It’s amazing, its come up so well. I am amazed to see it,” said Rohit, the groom. To make the evening memorable and lively, the organizers also bought in dance troupes and artists, whose performances matched the theme. (ANI)
