Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Sep.25 (ANI): In a novel initiative, a solar panel has been set up in Chhattisgarh’s capital city Raipur to prevent long disruptions of work caused by closing down of equipment due to frequent electricity tripping.
An initiative of Rajya Akshay Urja Vikas Abhikaran and Chhattisgarh Rajya Vidyut Niyamak Ayog, the step has come as a major help for office employees here who previously faced a lot of work disruptions and major inconvenince due to this routine problem.
“We spend crores of rupees on constructing buildings still we fail to become self-reliant in the field of electricity. But our office building is fully independent for this. Previously, we could utilise just that period of time for work till there was electricity in office,” said Shailendera Shukla, Executive Director of the Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development (CREDA).
India has made a great progress in the field of renewable energy. Windmills operating in various villages are its prominent examples. The importance and dependence on renewable energy has risen in the recent times due to declining traditional energy resources.
Established in 2001, the office of CREDA today generates 80 kilowatt of energy per hour through soloar energy. It supplies energy to all the equipments set up here. It has been show that it is a misconception that it requires a lot of money to set up solar energy plant. Instead, it saves money and energy.
” It is a misconception that it take a lot of mone to set up solar energy plant. It is possible with the help of government schemes, provided we have a willingness and determination to do it. Once the concept of security from energy sets in our minds, it looks easy,” says Rajiv Gyani, Executive Engineer, CREDA.
CREDA has intiated various programme to conserve electricity. Ensuring electricity supply in far off areas through non-traditional energy resources is prominent among them. It is hoped that acceptance of solary energy at large scale would help people get rid of electricy problem. (ANI)
