The 60-year-old, Ningthoujam Chaoba, was abducted by some unidentified armed persons on October 14 from his house at Yorbung in Imphal.
Chaoba is still in their captivity, and with no help being provided the family members have decided to discuss it with higher authorities.
“We have consulted our minister. We will talk to the higher-level authorities. We’ll discuss how to manage it,” said L. Thangton, Directorate of Tribal Development.
While, Premlata, who worked under Chaoba, said that abduction of Government officials in Manipur has become a common practice and now people are tired of violence.
“There won’t be any development, if such incidents keep on happening. Everyone is aware of the problems but due to restrictions from them, they couldn’t do much. People are truly tired of all the violence in the state,” Premlata said.
The protest by the staff and the officials totally paralysed the Office of the Directorate of Tribal Development.
The continuous harassment of the people is making them question the motives of organizations and groups who claim to represent their interests. (ANI)
