People converge in Bihar village to watch total solar eclipse
July 21st, 2009 - 11:19 pm ICT by ANITaregana (Patna), July 21 (ANI): A day ahead of the total solar eclipse, tourists and enthusiasts from different places of the country started thronging in Bihar’s Taregana village to witness the celestial spectacle, which could be watched on Wednesday (July 22).
Total Solar Eclipse will be visible in Patna, Bhopal, Indore, Gaya, Varanasi, Bhavnagar, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Sibsagar, Surat, Ujjain and Vadodara on Wednesday. But Taregana village is one of the best places in India to view the celestial spectacle.
Heavy rush of tourist and solar eclipse enthusiasts was witnessed on Tuesday at Taregana railway station.
According to B.K Sinha, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Taregana Village all the arrangements have been made for media and the scientists.
“On top of this building, we have fixed a telescope for observation by the scientists. There is provision for media persons also and provision for the cameras,” said Sinha.
Meanwhile hundreds thronged Krishna Science Centre to get goggles with solar filter. Nilama, a local student, said that she would be more than happy to have the glimpse of solar eclipse.
“In the science centre a lot of telescopes have been fixed to look at the eclipse as number of students and scientists are coming here to witness it and if the authorities permit us we will also see the solar eclipse from here,” said Nilama.
The next total solar eclipse of this kind would be visible after 105 years.
The belief that the sun is at the mercy of two evil planets, Rahu and Ketu causing the eclipse, still prevails among a section of Indians despite propagation of scientific temper among the masses. (ANI)
