Known for her Punjabi folk and classical renderings, Pushpa Hans had developed an interest in Sufi music from the age of 10.
She did her Bacholer’s degree in music from Lahore University and for almost 10 years she undertook Indian classical music traning at “Patwardhan gharana” of Lahore. She also started her singing career with the All India Radio Lahore.
“I liked it very much and decided to take to Sufi and Punjabi songs. Then I underwent training in classical music for ten years. Punjabi music, folksongs and Sufi music have always been my weakness,” said Pushpa Hans.
“The biggest award that I have got is Padmashree, which is a National Award. I have also got Kalpana Chawla Award and many other awards. I had been to the front and sung for the soldiers. There is no country where I have not been sponsored, whether it is Europe, America, Canada and east, I have visited all the countries,” she added.
She acted in V. Shantaram’s “Apna Desh, 1949″, Sohrab Modi’s “Sheesh Mahal, 1950″ and many other films. (ANI)
