Nelly Furtado ’struggles to write passionate lyrics in English’
August 12th, 2009 - 1:58 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Aug 12 (ANI): Pop star Nelly Furtado has penned the lyrics of her latest album Mi Plan in Spanish as she couldn’t come up with passionate lyrics in English.
Furtado, who learned Spanish at 14, was quoted by Contactmusic as saying: “After 10 years recording in English, I hit a wall. I felt this was the moment to make the dream.”
The Grammy winner, whose parents are from Portugal, said she preferred churning out songs in Spanish or Portuguese.
“I have always adored performing in both Portuguese and Spanish, which are both Latin languages. I can emote better in a Latin language, so the songs have turned out more personal and intimate,” she added.
Mi Plan is slated for released in September this year and the 30-year-old star has already planned to sing her next album in her mother tongue, Portuguese. (ANI)
