NDFB disrupts peace in Assam again
December 20th, 2009 - 8:05 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Guwahati, Dec 20 (ANI): The rebel National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) has once again shattered the atmosphere of peace and stability in Assam by claiming responsibility for the two bomb blasts in the state’s Sonitpur District ten days ago.
The blast in the Missamari army cantonment area and Rskshasmari claimed two lives and left many others injured. The first explosion occurred around 2.30 p. m at Garubandha weekly market, while the second blast also took place four hours later at 6 p.m.
Shritapan Shankar, a relative of one of the victims said: “I was in my shop when the blast occurred. There were many customers at that time. Even my children came directly to the shop after their school. The blast was so sudden, people panicked and started running. I saw one injured child.”
“They were returning after work when the bomb exploded in the market. I come to know about the incident when I reached home. I then rushed to hospital. They should think about the consequence of their actions,” said the father of one of the victim.
The NDFB has carried out a series of bomb attacks in 2008, in which 100 people were killed and many injured.
Following the incident, security forces have been placed on high alert. (ANI)
