orionidsOct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Halley’s comet is one of the most commonly viewed comet from the Earth, that visits our planet in every 76 years and can be visible with our naked eyes. The Orionids Meteor Shower, which the Earth is witnessing right now is associated with this comet. It has been named so, as the point from with it comes, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Orion. It is an annual meteor shower, which continues for about a week.

The Orionids Meteor Shower of this year, which started from October 15, reached its peak in the late last night, starting from the evening. The best time to have experienced the meteor shower was maximum after 11p.m till 3 a.m, provided that the person was extremely patient, as only a few out of 30 meteors, was visible in an hour. This was because, the moon was quite radiant yesterday, considering a full moon, dated just the next day. Experts said, that the best time to have experienced the meteor shower, was at 11 p.m, although the time varied from one place to another in USA. The person could lie down in complete dark, under a clear sky, and gazed at the sky till his eyes got adapted to the darkness. That could have made locating the sparkling and diving meteor pieces easier, when seen with enough patience. This could have continued till the beginning of the dawn and sunrise, when the constellation is closer to zenith.

All those, who missed it out last night, can make it today. The same means may be adopted in order to view the meteor shower. However, since it is full moon today, it may be a little more challenging.
