Anantnag (J-K), Dec 28 (ANI): In an attempt to empower women living in rural areas, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has introduced career-oriented courses for women in state-run institutes.

Under this scheme, women from across State are being taught professional skills such as tailoring, embroidery and fashion design at various Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).

Recently, these courses were introduced in Seer Hamdan village in the State’s Anantnag district where girls joining the different training institutes aim to improve their make their future.

The State Government is providing all assistance to these institutes, to enable students to combine their creativity with the latest technology.

Rajinder Singh Chib, the State’s Minister for Medical Education, said the courses were aimed at providing an opportunity for girls to learn.

“We are committed to providing education to all, and girls have every right to receive education, as well. That’s why we have introduced such courses, which are associated with computers. We know that our girls can do better work, so we have created special wings for them,” Chib added.

Students said these career-oriented courses would help them become more self-reliant.”This course will help us immensely. For example, if we are unable to find a suitable job after completing this course, then we can start our own business and become self-dependent as people always say that girls are dependent on others, but it is not so,” said Masooda Jan, a student.

“It is not necessary for a woman to take up a job. With this, a woman can bring up her children in a better way, too. She can teach good morals and values to her child, and rear it as a cultured and well-behaved child,” said Rehana Qadir, another student. (ANI)
