Jordan orders perfume probe after slave wages to Indian workers claim
June 20th, 2010 - 1:27 pm ICT by ANILondon, June 20 (ANI): Katie Price a.k.a Jordan has ordered an enquiry into allegations of low wages paid to Indian workers making bottles for her perfume.
The former glamour model’s perfumes were ditched by retail chain Superdrug after it was reported that Indian workers making the bottles were paid just 2.05 pounds a day.
An investigation by The Observer newspaper centred on allegations involving workers at a Pragati Glass factory in Kosamba in the state of Gujarat.
However, a statement issued by Price’s spokesman said the star has withdrawn her agreement with the UK licensee.
“When The Observer’s claims about low wages at the Indian perfume bottle manufacturer were brought to Katie’s attention, she suspended her contract with the UK licensee, and asked it to provide her with a full written report on the low wages allegations. She now awaits that report,” the Mirror quoted the spokesman as saying. (ANI)
