India condemns Kabul blast incident as two Indians injured, diplomats’ houses damaged
December 15th, 2009 - 9:02 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Dec.15 (ANI): India on Tuesday condemned the suicide car attack, occurred this morning near a hotel in Kabul which injured two Indians and partly damaged houses of three Indian diplomats that were situated close by in the residential complex.
“We unequivocally condemn this cowardly act. Our hearts go out to the victims,” said Vishnu Prakash, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson in the national capital.
The bomb blast reportedly killed at least eight people and left 40 injured.
The incident occurred when a suicide bomber blew him up outside the gate of the Heetal hotel in the Wazir Akbar Khan district, near a guest house where at least 40 Indianswere staying.
The two Indians injured in the attack are the employees of the Internet Company IO global.
Nearly 4,000 Indians are working in Afghanistan on various developmental projects and India has pledged 1.2 billion dollars for the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Afghan insurgents oppose Indian efforts in Afghanistan and the Indian nationals, working in Afghanistan, are being targeted and remain on militants’ hit list.
Previously, militants have targeted the Indian embassy in Afghanistan capital Kabul on two occasions in July 2008 and October 2009. (ANI)
